  What is this Piano Pedagogy Certificate Program?

The Preface in the RCM syllabus states “The Piano Pedagogy Certificate Program ….Is designed as a progressive, three-level pedagogy program that better prepares teachers to instruct all levels of students.
This program culminates in an enriched Teacher’s ARCT. It will recognize accomplishments through an examination and certificate program offered at each level. The aim of the program is three-fold:

    •     To improve the quality of music instruction in the broader private studio teaching community

•     To increase the value  placed on and awareness of the private studio teaching profession

•     To strengthen the qualifications and teaching technique of private piano studio teachers.”

The effectiveness of the teaching is already evident by one of their students, Annaluisa von Schilling,

gaining the Silver Medal for the highest marks in British Columbia in the Royal Conservatory of

Music Intermediate Level Pedagogy exams.
